Calicut University's BA Malayalam syllabus recommends not including Vedan's songs. Demand that Gauri Lakshmi's songs should also not be removed from the syllabus. The action was based on a complaint filed by BJP syndicate members against the inclusion of the songs in the syllabus. It was decided to include the song in the third semester of BA Malayalam at Calicut University. Then the procedures were followed. The action was taken on the grounds that rap cannot be accepted as popular music. Basheer's report also states that the literature of rap has no ideological coherence. The report says that students who come to study BA Malayalam will not have an understanding of this and this study will be difficult.
