Malappuram: A clash broke out between League and Congress workers in Udirampoyil during the tour of UDF candidate A P Anilkumar in Vandoor. Following the clash, Anilkumar did not come out and returned from the campaign vehicle without speaking. It was alleged that a section of Congress workers were the reason for the defeat of the League candidate in Chokkad panchayat in the local body elections. The clash was caused by those suspected of being members of the League who came to the campaign event. The footage of the incident was widely circulated on social media. As the incident became controversial, the local League and Congress leadership said that there was no conflict at the site. The leaders said that there was a minor dispute related to the organization and that it was not related to the issue related to the panchayat elections. The Left workers used the incident as a political weapon. The Left alleged that the clash was caused by opposition to the MLA.
