Kerala will host the country's first college-focused sports league. The first season of the College Sports League-Kerala (CSL-K) will begin from the 18th of this month. The league is being organized by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs and Sports Kerala Foundation. The competitions will be modeled after popular collegiate sports leagues in countries like the US. In the inaugural season, special league competitions will be held in sports such as football and volleyball. The plan is to expand the league by adding more sports such as cricket, basketball and kabaddi in the coming years. The inaugural season will begin with the football league matches to be held at the Calicut University campus from July 17 to 26. 60 teams from all UGC-approved colleges in the state will participate in this.
