Companies are ready to bring multiplexes to Kerala considering the production of good films and the acceptance of other language films. At the same time, industry experts point out that multiplexes pose a threat to small theatres. Increasing business costs, low viewership and lack of hit films have affected single-screen theatres in cities. India's largest multiplex chain, PVR Inox, has 42 screens across Kerala. Mexico-based international cinema chain Cinepolis has 11 screens, including three VIP screens, in Kochi. Kerala Film Exhibitors Federation chairman and filmmaker Liberty Basheer said that multiplexes are focusing on Kerala because better films are coming to Kerala now compared to other states.
