Rescue operations are in progress in the incident where a cargo ship caught fire off the Kerala coast. The rescue operation is being led by the Coast Guard and the Navy. Efforts are ongoing to extinguish the fire on the ship. Out of the 22 people on board, 18 have been rescued, but four are still missing. The cargo ship MV WAN HAI 1503 caught fire 78 nautical miles off the Kerala coast while en route from Colombo to Mumbai. The 18 people who survived the accident were taken to Mangaluru for treatment. Six people who were seriously injured were admitted to Mangaluru AJ Hospital. It is reported that the 154 containers on the Singapore ship contained dangerous goods including acids, gunpowder and lithium batteries. The ships Samudra Prahari and The containers on the ship contain flammable and toxic materials. If the ship sinks, there is a high risk of oil spillage and toxic chemicals being released into the sea.
