The first accused in the Parassala Sharon Raj murder case that shocked the country, Greeshma, was sentenced to death. Sharon's parents burst into tears in the courtroom after hearing the verdict and thanked the court with folded hands. The court observed that Greeshma cannot be given age relaxation. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs. 2 lakh. Greeshma is becoming the youngest convict in Kerala to be sentenced to death and the second woman in Kerala to be on death row. The court observed that the Sharon Raj murder case is a rare one. Neyyattinkara Additional Sessions Judge A. M. Basheer pronounced the sentence. The court assessed that Greeshma committed a clever crime. The court also sentenced Greeshma's uncle, the third accused, to three years in prison. The court has sentenced him to five years in prison and a fine of fifty thousand rupees for the crime of diverting the investigation, 10 years in prison for kidnapping for murder, and the death penalty for murder.
