Thiruvananthapuram: The controversy over the BJP's seal on the Election Commission's official circular is heating up. The Kerala Police has sent notices to 270 X handles, 200 Facebook pages and 90 Instagram IDs that shared the image of the controversial circular. Although Facebook and Instagram have removed the posts containing the controversial image as per the police's instructions, the posts have not been completely removed from the X platform. There is strong criticism that a move is being made to silence social media users using the police. The Trinamool Congress has turned this issue into a powerful propaganda weapon in West Bengal. TMC leaders pointed out that this incident confirms their earlier allegations that the Election Commission is acting as a pawn of the BJP. The leaders say that the impartiality of constitutional institutions has been completely destroyed and democracy in the country is in danger. The TMC is using this circular controversy as a main weapon against the Election Commission in election rallies in West Bengal. The Congress leadership has strongly criticized the stance taken by the Election Commission and the central government on this issue. Congress leader Supriya Srinathe said that instead of correcting a serious mistake and apologizing, it is unacceptable to send notices to those who criticized using the police. She pointed out that such an incident has never happened in the history of Indian elections. The opposition parties have said that the fact that a political party's seal appeared on an official document of the Election Commission, which is supposed to work impartially, cannot be seen as a mere technical error.
