Thiruvananthapuram: K. G. Sanalkumar has been appointed as the new State Election Commissioner. K. G. Sanalkumar is currently the Secretary of the Law Department. The cabinet meeting held today recommended Sanalkumar for the post of Election Commissioner. The cabinet's recommendation will be submitted to the Governor. In July 2023, the government issued an order appointing K. G. Sanalkumar, who was the judge of the Kollam Chavara Family Court, as the Law Secretary. The appointment was on deputation basis. After passing L. L. B and L. L. M from the Thiruvananthapuram Law Academy Law College, Sanalkumar enrolled as an advocate in 1989. He joined the job as Vaikom Munsif in 1998. He has served as Vadakkanchary, Thalassery, Cherthala, Kollam Magistrate, Sasthamkotta Munsif Magistrate, Pathanamthitta Munsif, Ernakulam Sub Judge, C. J. M Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta Additional District Judge, Pathanamthitta M. He has served as A. C. T., Kottayam Additional District Judge, and Kottayam Vigilance Judge.
