New Delhi: Tata Communications and RailTel Corporation of India have joined hands to strengthen India's digital infrastructure for artificial intelligence-based services and new digital innovations. The main objective of the partnership is to modernize network systems and enhance cybersecurity by combining RailTel's nationwide network with Tata Communications' global digital platforms. According to an exchange filing, RailTel's optical fiber network, which spans over 63,000 route kilometers, will be connected to Tata Communications' cloud and cybersecurity systems. The collaboration will also focus on providing secure cloud systems to manage critical information and using AI platforms to accelerate digital operations. The move will help Tata Communications expand its digital services to major public and private institutions in the country. RailTel, a public sector undertaking, currently connects over 6,000 railway stations. RailTel also provides IT services to government departments and banks. Through this collaboration, the two companies aim to provide faster and seamless connectivity to the central and state governments and ministries. Ministries, state governments, public sector undertakings and other enterprises that rely on RailTel's network can now expect faster connectivity and stronger data security. Citizen services such as Wi-Fi at railway stations, public broadband, surveillance systems and digital governance platforms will also be improved.
