Popular messaging platform WhatsApp is reportedly working on new features to ensure the privacy of its users. This new feature, called ‘username keys’, will help control unwanted and spammy messages. This information was revealed by WhatsApp tracker WABetaInfo. This feature is currently available in the beta version of the Android 2.25.22.9 update. This feature has two main parts. The first is ‘username’. Currently, to chat with people, you have to share your phone number. But with this feature, you only need to share your username instead of your phone number. This is similar to the username system in Telegram. The second is ‘username keys’. This will be a four-digit PIN code. To start chatting with a new person, the user will have to share this PIN code along with their username. Without this code, no one will be able to send new messages. This way, this feature will not be a hindrance for people who know the phone number and people who are currently chatting. This system will be very helpful in preventing unwanted messages and spam. WhatsApp is expected to make this feature available to everyone soon.
