US President Donald Trump has said he will increase import tariffs on India. Trump's social media post suggests that India not only buys energy products from Russia, but also makes huge profits by selling them. The post also accuses India of not being concerned about those being killed in Ukraine. The US Deputy Chief had made a similar allegation. The criticism was that India was sponsoring the Ukraine war by buying oil from Russia. Meanwhile, India had responded to Trump's threat of tariffs. The Ministry of External Affairs accused the US and the European Union of targeting India for importing oil from Russia after the Ukraine conflict. The US had actively encouraged India's imports to strengthen global energy market stability. The Ministry of External Affairs retorted that the countries criticizing India were also engaging in trade with Russia. India's strong criticism was that the US was double-standard. The US targeting India cannot be justified. India knows how to protect its national interest, the Ministry of External Affairs clarified in a statement.
