Idukki: Tourists can now visit the Idukki Arch Dam on foot. Water Resources Minister Roshi Augustine inaugurated the ticket distribution for the walking tour. Minister Roshi Augustine said that the government has decided to allow pedestrians considering the increase in tourists visiting Idukki and the need for all tourists to get a chance to see the dam. The minister said that permission to visit the dam has been given with strict safety standards and tourists should follow the instructions. The dam can be visited from 10 am to 3.30 pm. The ticket price for the walking tour is Rs 50 for adults and Rs 30 for children. The ticket price for the buggy car tour is Rs 150 per person. Eight buggy cars have been set up here. 3750 people are allowed to visit daily. 2500 people can visit the dam on foot through online and 1248 people can visit the dam by using the buggy car service. If the number of passengers is not full in the online booking, the spot ticketing system can also be used. The permission to visit the Idukki Dam was granted to tourists following the continuous interventions of Minister Roshi Augustine. Permission for a walking tour of the Idukki Dam was granted following continuous discussions held in the presence of Electricity Minister K. Krishnankutty, Water Resources Minister Roshi Augustine, Electricity Principal Secretary, KSEB Board Chairman, Hydel Tourism Director, Idukki District Collector and other public representatives.
