Videos shared on social media show a tsunami hitting the shores of Russia's Severo-Kurilsk region. This comes after an 8.7-magnitude earthquake struck Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula. The epicenter of the earthquake was 126 kilometers southeast of the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky in the Pacific Ocean, the US Geological Survey said. A tsunami wave has hit Japan after a powerful earthquake struck Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula. The tsunami wave reached the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido. Employees at the Fukushima nuclear power plant have been evacuated. The nuclear plant was damaged in the tsunami that hit Japan in 2011.
