Former area secretary V Kunhikrishnan has come forward to put the party on the defensive in the martyrs' fund scam that took place under the CPM Payyannur area committee. Bank records showing that leaders had made permanent deposits of lakhs of rupees collected to help the family of martyr Dhanaraj in their own names have now come to light. These documents, released during the election period, refute all the previous arguments of the CPM.
