India's Test captain Shubman Gill has been named as the vice-captain, while Jasprit Bumrah has also been included in the 15-member squad led by Suryakumar Yadav. Ajit Agarkar announced the squad after detailed discussions at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai on Tuesday, August 19. The Asia Cup will be held in the UAE from September 9 to 28. India's first match will be against the hosts on September 10. It will be followed by a match against arch-rivals Pakistan on September 14. Both matches will be played in Dubai. With the aim of continuing the winning streak that the Indian selectors have enjoyed since Suryakumar Yadav took over as the T20 captain, some strategic choices have been made. While Sanju Samson has been selected as the number one wicketkeeper, Jitesh Sharma and Dhruv Jurel are in the running for the number two spot. He overtook Jitesh Jurel to take the top spot for his outstanding performance as a finisher for RCB during their 2025 IPL title win.
