Railways has allowed new stops for two trains in Kerala. Nagercoil-Kottayam Express has been allowed to stop at Ochira. Mangalore Central-Thiruvananthapuram Express has been allowed to stop at Sastamkot. The three new stops allowed for the Kottayam-Nilambur Express came into operation on Monday. The new stops were allowed at Kulukallur, Pattikkadu and Melattur. The Nilambur-Kottayam service will also have stops at all three places. The new measure is a partial solution to the long-standing demand of passengers that the Kottayam-Nilambur Express be allowed to stop at all stations on the Nilambur-Shornur route.
