Sports teachers are protesting against the assignment of Zumba training in schools. The Zumba training is being given without resolving several problems faced by sports teachers, including the shortage of posts. More sports teachers will be out of work once the re-determination of posts is completed. The Sports Teachers' Association has filed a complaint with Education Minister V. Sivankutty, seeking a solution. Sports teachers are appointed in the state only by calculating the number of UP and high school students. But even that is not enough. Although there are 2739 UP schools and 2663 high schools, the total number of teachers is less than 1800. More teachers will be out of work once the determination of posts is completed. In addition to completing the health and physical education of students, sports teachers now have to do Zumba training. It was in this situation that the sports teachers' association came into play.
