The dates for the local body elections in Kerala have been announced. The local body elections will be held in two phases. The first phase of voting will be held on December 9 and the second phase on December 11. The counting of votes will be held on December 13. The election notification will be issued on November 14. Nominations can be filed till November 21. Voting will be held in seven districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam in the first phase. Voting will be held in seven districts of Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod in the second phase. Nominations can be filed from the date of the notification of the polls. The State Election Commission stated in a press conference that all preparations for the elections have been completed. The model code of conduct came into effect in the state from today.
