Padmaja, the daughter-in-law of former Wayanad DCC treasurer NM Vijayan, attempted suicide. Padmaja attempted suicide by cutting a nerve in her hand. She was then admitted to a private hospital in Bathery. Police say she is not seriously injured. A suicide note has been found that reads, "Killer Congress, here is another victim for you." Padmaja had said yesterday that the Congress had not fulfilled the promises made following NM Vijayan's suicide. Padmaja had made a scathing criticism of the Congress leadership at a press conference. She alleged that the Congress was not paying the money as per the contract.
