The Asmak Hotel in Vizhinjam, which was closed after allegations that two people died due to food poisoning in Kollam, was operating without permission. It was found that the hotel was operating in an illegal building and the hotel did not have a license. 12 out of 14 hotels operating on the Vizhinjam coast do not have permission from the health department. Following the incident, samples from the hotel have also been sent for chemical testing. Following the news, the police had closed the hotel the previous day. Although the postmortem report of the deceased Rasheedah Beevi suspected that the cause of death was food poisoning, the postmortem report of her son-in-law Shaji did not find the possibility of food poisoning. The internal organ test report of both of them is yet to be received. The cause of death will be clear only after the chemical test results are received. The daughter of the deceased Rasheedah Beevi, Sajimol, is continuing her treatment. Food safety officials inspected the hotel in Vizhinjam, where the family said they had eaten, but they did not find any unsanitary conditions or stale food.
