Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has directed the Disaster Management Department to provide information on any weak buildings, including schools and hospitals, that need to be demolished within two weeks. The Chief Minister's directive came at a high-level meeting held regarding safety in schools.Those that need to be demolished and those that need to be repaired should be given priority. School buildings should be demolished on holidays. Local self-government bodies, PTA and the education department should find an alternative system to conduct classes until the demolished school buildings are rebuilt. The Chief Minister directed that safety inspections of unaided school buildings should also be conducted. Software will be developed to record details of public buildings in danger. An inspection system should be established by the Chief Electrical Officer, Local Self-Government and Public Works Department electrical engineers to inspect electrical matters. Revenue Minister K Rajan, Finance Minister KN Balagopal, Public Works Minister P A Muhammed Riyaz, Public Education Minister V Sivankutty, Health Minister Veena George, Chief Secretary Dr. A Jayathilak, officials and district collectors were present.
